There are also modes that dictate the fate of characters in battle should they be defeated. In Classic Mode, a fallen unit is subject to permanent death, a recurring mode in the Fire Emblem series that removes fallen characters from the rest of the game. Casual Mode enables units to be revived at the end of a battle. The new Phoenix mode revives units on the following player turn.Each version of Fates is focused around a different gameplay style. The gameplay of Birthright is similar to the prior installment Fire Emblem Awakening and features opportunities to gain extra gold and experience.

Command them with expert precision and form stronger relationships in this ambitious turn-based strategy game.

Fire Emblem Fates comes in two versions, each with their own story to tell. Join Hoshido in Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, or fight alongside Nohr in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. Later on, you can explore the depth of the story in a third path, available to purchase as add-on content – Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation. After selecting your path, you can then choose to purchase the other story paths as downloadable content from Nintendo eShop.

For the first time ever, your customised avatar is the main hero. An army of knights, mages, archers and more are at your command for the most challenging battles in the series' history. Each unit and weapon has strengths and weaknesses that you must balance against the foes they face. Partner your allies on the battlefield so they can support one another in combat. Building relationships is key – the closer your allies become, the better they’ll fight together.
